A Hearing Test or Hearing Aid can be of Several Types

You can experience a variety of changes in your life when you lose your hearing. One of the first things you notice is asking people to repeat themselves within conversations.
You have finally had enough of listening to how loud the television is for what seems like a million times, so you have decided to seek assistance. Hearing tests are generally the first thing an ENT Specialist in Gurugram will order. Those results will confirm your type and severity of hearing loss.

There is no pain involved in these tests. These tests are typically performed in a soundproof booth by Dr. Manish Prakash, often while wearing specially designed headphones. The results are plotted on an audiogram, which illustrates how severe your hearing loss is.

Types of Hearing Tests

Pure Tone Testing

It measures your sensitivity to sound at varying pitches and volumes by using air conduction. Wearing headphones and sitting in a booth will be required. Listeners will hear different sounds through their headphones. Every time you hear a tone, you'll be asked to raise your hand or press a button. An audiogram will then display your responses.

Speech Testing

A speech reception threshold (SRT) is a measure of how much of a faint voice you will be able to understand 50 percent of the time. A noise or quiet environment is used to administer the test and measure how well you can distinguish speech from background noise.

Tympanometry

Your eardrum's movement in response to air pressure is measured by this test. You can find out if there has been a buildup of fluid, wax, perforation, or a tumor.

Acoustic Reflex Testing

Testers from Best ENT Hospital in Gurugram Haryana use this to determine the type, location, and extent of your hearing loss (the ossicles, cochlea, auditory nerve, etc.) and to measure the muscle contractions in the middle ear.

Hearing aids

It is possible to find hearing aids of many types. So which will work best for you? Discover how to select the right hearing aid.
A hearing aid's features, price, size, and placement differ greatly:

In the canal

Hearing aids that fit in the canal (in-the-canal) are custom-molded and partly secure in the canal. Adults with mild to moderate hearing loss may benefit from these kinds of hearing aids.

In the ear

There are two types of in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids - one type that fills most of the bowl-shaped part of your outer ear (full shell), the other one fills only the lower part. These devices can be used by people with mild to severe hearing loss and come with directional microphones.

Behind the ear

Hearing aids that sit behind the ear are known as behind-the-ear (BTE) devices. You wear an earpiece called an earmold in your ear canal. A tube connects the hearing aid to the earpiece. All ages and all types of hearing loss can use this type of device.

Receiver in canal or receiver in the ear

There are two types of receivers, receiver-in-canal (RIC) and receiver-in-the-ear (RITE), both of which contain the speaker or receiver in the ear canal. The speaker or receiver is connected to the piece behind the ear with a wire, rather than tubing.

In order to obtain more information, you can speak with an audiologist Dr. Manish Prakash, ENT Specialist in Gurugram who will guide individuals regarding which circuitry will be best suited for their specific needs.
