The thinning of the cornea causes a cone-shaped bulge towards the center of the cornea in the areas of greatest thinning. This condition results in blurry or distorted vision, sensitivity to light and other vision problems. Keratoconus most often is seen in teenagers or young adults.

In Keratoconous treatment usually, eyeglasses or contact lens provide adequate vision. Optometrist in Mayom Hospital, Gurugram recommends the rigid gas permeable or scleral contact lenses. In some cases, new eyeglasses can usually make the vision clear again. Still, it’s necessary to use contact lenses or ask doctors for treatments to strengthen the cornea and improve vision.

Laser surgery is famous for vision correction. But in the case of keratoconous it is dangerous because it can further weaken the cornea and make vision worse. Anyone with even a small degree of keratoconus or a strong family history of keratoconus, should not have LASIK surgery.
